Terveisin Rexa

"Very occasionally we have a bike with the problem described, where the seat post slowly sinks into the frame as you ride along. This is very unusual on a new bike, it usually happens on a bike that has been in use for a couple of years. It is normally due to the plastic sleeve lining the frame coming loose from the frame (the sleeve is glued into the frame) and when it is loose it does not hold the seatpost so well, so it slips down.

The solution shown by this owner is not a bad one, as it is easy for any owner to get a second clamp band and fit it to the post. However, the correct solution is to replace the seat sleeve. Gluing a new sleeve in place will stop this slipping, but it does need a special rubberised cyanoacrylate glue and a special machined seat sleeve. We sell these as QSTSLV and QGLUESS. This replacement is best done by a shop as the glue is expensive and one bottle is enough to do at least 6 bikes, so it is not something an owner would find economic to consider.
